For over 15 years, Acting Out Productions has provided a creative and supportive environment for students of all ages to learn improvisation, self-expression, performance and stagecraft. Acting Out Productions offers workshops for students aged 4-18 in acting and musical theatre and performs at venues in the greater Newburyport area.
The Performing Project was founded in 2011 in partnership with The Actors Studio of Newburyport, MA and the Youth Development Organization of Lawrence, MA. The purpose of the program is to give children in Lawrence an experience in the performing arts that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford because of show fees, costume costs and transportation to rehearsals. The Performing Project gives a theatrical opportunity to over sixty Lawrence students each year, including ten young adults who work in the program each summer. We strive to help actors become more confident in their theatrical ability and themselves. Our motto is “Find Your Inner Star” which is our ultimate goal. The students form friendships and develop self-confidence throughout our two-week summer program and the other theatrical experiences and programs we offer throughout the year. The Performing Project Education Fund established in 2016 helps students to apply to college and assists with college costs.
